The Franco Parenti Theatre is one of the historic institutions of independent and experimental theatre in Milan.
After its renovation, the ex-Salone Pier Lombardo now includes three theatre auditoriums, two foyers, two rehearsal rooms, new dressing rooms and offices, a restaurant and a cafeteria.
The theatre auditoriums are built around the large new foyer, the heart of the Cittadela dello Spettacolo, organised on different levels. The Main Hall is equipped with a system of mobile platforms allowing total movement of the tiered seating to suit the type of performance or event. Of the two smaller auditoriums, one is a circle theatre for straight drama, and the other is combined with a restaurant for cabaret and light entertainment. The atmosphere is again that of a theatre workshop, using raw materials, convertible spaces and lighting adaptable to diverse situations.
